SpeakEasy Elixir Lounge Secrets Revealed!
Posted on Fri ,05/02/2010 by SpeakEasySarahWhether you’re having a few friends over or planning a party, event or performance…
An Elixir Bar is a great way to infuse socializing with a healthy alternative to the standard health evading concessions usually available at such functions.
Over the years I have set up the SpeakEasy Elixir Lounge in a number of diverse settings and have established several strategies to streamline, simplify and guarantee success every time! I’m excited at the opportunity to share this information with all of you, and to facilitate the Elixir Bar concept going mainstream!!!!
When setting up an Elixir Bar for an event it is important to know your audience and venue… Who are these drinks for? …. are they familiar with Elixirs and SuperFoods or is this a brand new experience for them?
I have found that my Elixir Bars have been an incredible way to introduce people to a healthier lifestyle, because they are fun and taste amazing!
I spend a great deal of time educating people about ingredients, benefits, history and the movement of Alternative Nutrition while serving up Elixirs. This is a great motivation to keep it simple… with too many ingredients, herbs and such it can be a bit overwhelming for people to know what to choose and will require much more energy from you to explain the what’s and why’s of it all.
Keeping it simple is also important in order to make your Elixirs as affordable as possible without compromising the quality and integrity of the ingredients. In small social settings when hanging out with friends this is less of a concern, but let’s face it… Ingredients can be expensive, especially when you are committed to using high integrity and organic superfoods and herbs. For this reason, when creating Elixirs for events it is important to simplify the recipes from what you might create for yourself and loved ones at home. You can get by with very few ingredients and offer superfood supplements as an option for a small fee.
Menu design is an art in itself and I design all my menus from scratch with my own recipes, although if your new to making Elixirs it might be wise to play around a bit first or seek out some good recipes. The ElixirCraft Mastery Program by Daniel Vitalis is a great resource and introduction to the system and concept of ElixirCrafting.
“ElixirCraft is the art and science of Advanced Liquid Herbal Alchemy. It is Liquid Nutrition, a method for making bio-available herbal medicine that is easily re-cognized and utilized by the body. It makes medicine into food, and food into medicine and is a synthesis of ancient alchemical and traditional herbal methods combined with today’s leading edge superfood technology.” ~Daniel VitalisI highly recommend this program to anyone wishing to deepen their practice in liquid medicinal preparations. I will also be posting my favorite recipes up here on the site so feel free to use them!
What’s the intention behind the event? Is it a party, health lecture, public or private function?
If it’s a private party we can play a little more and get creative. I love to incorporate medicinal tinctures and phsychoactive plant medicines into my Elixirs and obviously this is something that is suitable for some situations and not for others
There is also the issue of regulations and licensing when it comes to serving any sort of alcohol at a public event.
What is the ‘theme’ of the event?
Daniel Vitalis & I hosted an retreat in the Kootenay’s last year that was focused on identifying, foraging and medicine making of wild mushrooms. As part of that retreat we had an Elixir party and it seemed fitting that I would use medicinal mushrooms as the main ingredient for the base of the Elixirs being served, and depending on the crowd you may even decide to offer a little magic as well
When planning for an event you will also want to consider whether you want to have your Elixirs prepared before hand or prepare them on-site. I prefer to prepare on site whenever possible as it creates an incredible energy and opportunity for learning and teaching an essential longevity strategy.
In certain situations though, such as speaker events or live music performances, it makes more sense to prepare things before hand so that you can still serve without drowning out the main attraction with your blender!
There are a few other considerations as well, such as pricing, volunteers/staff (if applicable) and decor…. I am all about ambiance and whenever possible will bring in candles, soft lighting, crystals and such to add a little more magic to the overall experience!
