Medicinal Tea Base for Elixir

A medicinal tea base is the first step in building an Elixir

Whether you’re having a few friends over or planning a party, event or performance…

An Elixir Bar is a great way to infuse socializing with a healthy alternative to the standard health evading concessions usually available at such functions.

Over the years I have set up the SpeakEasy Elixir Lounge in a number of diverse settings and have established several strategies to streamline, simplify and guarantee success every time! I’m excited at the opportunity to share this information with all of you, and to facilitate the Elixir Bar concept going mainstream!!!!

When setting up an Elixir Bar for an event it is important to know your audience and venue… Who are these drinks for? …. are they familiar with Elixirs and SuperFoods or is this a brand new experience for them?

I have found that my Elixir Bars have been an incredible way to introduce people to a healthier lifestyle, because they are fun and taste amazing!

I spend a great deal of time educating people about ingredients, benefits, history and the movement of Alternative Nutrition while serving up Elixirs. This is a great motivation to keep it simple… with too many ingredients, herbs and such it can be a bit overwhelming for people to know what to choose and will require much more energy from you to explain the what’s and why’s of it all.

Keeping it simple is also important in order to make your Elixirs as affordable as possible without compromising the quality and integrity of the ingredients. In small social settings when hanging out with friends this is less of a concern, but let’s face it… Ingredients can be expensive, especially when you are committed to using high integrity and organic superfoods and herbs. For this reason, when creating Elixirs for events it is important to simplify the recipes from what you might create for yourself and loved ones at home. You can get by with very few ingredients and offer superfood supplements as an option for a small fee.

Elixir Magic in Action

Menu design is an art in itself and I design all my menus from scratch with my own recipes, although if your new to making Elixirs it might be wise to play around a bit first or seek out some good recipes. The ElixirCraft Mastery Program by Daniel Vitalis is a great resource and introduction to the system and concept of ElixirCrafting.

“ElixirCraft is the art and science of Advanced Liquid Herbal Alchemy. It is Liquid Nutrition, a method for making bio-available herbal medicine that is easily re-cognized and utilized by the body. It makes medicine into food, and food into medicine and is a synthesis of ancient alchemical and traditional herbal methods combined with today’s leading edge superfood technology.” ~Daniel Vitalis

I highly recommend this program to anyone wishing to deepen their practice in liquid medicinal preparations. I will also be posting my favorite recipes up here on the site so feel free to use them!

What’s the intention behind the event? Is it a party, health lecture, public or private function?

If it’s a private party we can play a little more and get creative. I love to incorporate medicinal tinctures and phsychoactive plant medicines into my Elixirs and obviously this is something that is suitable for some situations and not for others ;) There is also the issue of regulations and licensing when it comes to serving any sort of alcohol at a public event.

What is the ‘theme’ of the event?

Daniel Vitalis & I hosted an retreat in the Kootenay’s last year that was focused on identifying, foraging and medicine making of wild mushrooms. As part of that retreat we had an Elixir party and it seemed fitting that I would use medicinal mushrooms as the main ingredient for the base of the Elixirs being served, and depending on the crowd you may even decide to offer a little magic as well ;)

When planning for an event you will also want to consider whether you want to have your Elixirs prepared before hand or prepare them on-site. I prefer to prepare on site whenever possible as it creates an incredible energy and opportunity for learning and teaching an essential longevity strategy.

In certain situations though, such as speaker events or live music performances, it makes more sense to prepare things before hand so that you can still serve without drowning out the main attraction with your blender!

There are a few other considerations as well, such as pricing, volunteers/staff (if applicable) and decor…. I am all about ambiance and whenever possible will bring in candles, soft lighting, crystals and such to add a little more magic to the overall experience!

So there you have it… SpeakEasy Elixir Bar Secrets Revealed!!!! :)

For those of you that mat be less familiar with what an elixir is and how to go abut preparing one, I have included the video

I’d be happy to answer any questions and to receive your insights and experience as well, so please feel free to comment below!

Let the Party Begin!!! xo

Elixir Magic in Action

I was introduced to liquid nutrition several years ago through Dr. David Jubb via his Liver Flushing Program as outlined in the LifeFood Recipe Book. The practice of Nutritional Fasting was one of the most beneficial practices I have incorporated to date.
Blended drinks have come a long way since then with an undeniable influence from Daniel Vitalis and his ElixirCraft Mastery Program. Elixir Bars are becoming commonplace and socializing through the vehicle of Alternative Nutrition a growing trend.
The art of preparing medicinal drinks that taste amazing and are tailored to suit your personal health needs can be a somewhat daunting task at first. There is so many amazing herbs, superfoods & ingredients to choose from, and limitless combination’s to play with. Soon though, as with anything you do consistently over a time…. it will become 2nd nature.

Today’s Elixir includes one of my favorite little indulgences…. coffee. This is something I wouldn’t suggest consuming everyday, and in moderation can be just as amazing a medicine/tool as anything else, so use your intuition and enjoy!

Warm & Wild Chaga with a Kick

3 cups     Chaga Tea (boiled for 2hours or more)
*tea base can be subsituted with any herbs you are currently working with
.5 cup      Cashews or nut of choice
pinch       Salt
blend & strain ~ (if you are using cashews as your nut of choice in a high powered blender like a vitamix, it won’t be all that necessary to strain)
2 tblsp     Coconut/Cacao Butter
2 tblsp     Tocotrenol
2 tblsp     SurThrival Colostrum
1 tblsp     Macuna
1 tblsp     Maca

1-2 shots fresh pressed, organic espresso (optional)

Sarah Maria ~ Founder, Superfood SpeakEasy

Sarah Maria of Superfood SpeakEasy

Wow! As I reflect on the past year, (and most notably since I officially launched Superfood SpeakEasy in May of 2009) I am forever in awe with this amazing process… for me to navigate and define what Superfood SpeakEasy is and what I want to offer to the world with SpeakEasy as my platform.

The original intention and vision for SpeakEasy was to coordinate conscious events, playshops & retreats, offering the most leading edge and somewhat controversial information to inspire people to take their health to a whole new level, by first taking responsibility for it.

Since the official launch in May of 2009 I have been working very closely with Health Motivator Daniel Vitalis, who has quickly become a dear friend and business partner on several projects. In this past year we have released an Invincible Health DVD and are in the editing phase for the launch of an Instructional Elixircraft DVD.

I must admit that I have been in a bit of a Vitalis Vortex as far as my focus in intellectual pursuits, and yet the more focus and attention I give, the more rewarding it is. What a blessing it has been to co-create with such an awesome human being! Not only that, but I have found myself very supported in my creative pursuits… watching a passionate interest of mine develop into an incredibly abundant resource!

Using social media networking in multimedia formats feels to me like I am forever planning a party and telling everyone about it! I am now being offered opportunities I’ve always dreamed of by virtue of living a passionate and creatively inspired life… that has the added bonus of a powerful and transformational message for a life lived long and well.

2010 is mapped out and ready to go with lots of exciting
things planned on the SpeakEasy front….

What inspires me most is finding new and innovative ways to educate & celebrate… at the same time!

I’m more than stoked to be heading to California this month to film, assist and play in the elements for the Shamanic Nutrition & Physical Evolution Tour with Daniel Vitalis. If you’re in the area, we’d love to see you there!!!!

Daniel and I are currently co-creators at DanielVitalis.com …. if you haven’t yet checked it out I highly recommend it. The DanielVitalis.com website is a phenomenal resource with new information being posted several times a week. Many of my videos are posted on that site, and you can also view the SpeakEasy Youtube Channel for tonnes of educational and inspiring material.

Speaking of videos and celebratory Events… check out the most recent piece I put together for the upcoming Epic Eden Hot Springs Retreat:

I visited Eden Hot Springs for a retreat with this team back in November and it completely transformed me! Words can’t touch the powerful healing energy this land and it’s waters are pouring forth. If you’re looking for an incredible adventure, to renew, revitalize and inspire you… this is the place!

For full details and registration info about the event click HERE.

I’ve got some amazing events planned this year throughout Western Canada with 3 Excellent and totally Inspiring educators…

Daniel Vitalis (May) & David ‘Avocado’ Wolfe with special guest Gabrielle Brick (August). All the details and registration info will be posted soon!

So, yes… SpeakEasy is evolving, although it’s essence remains intact from the initial inspiration to promote, educate, celebrate and re-mind the practice of self-directed health and vitality through the implementation of the forever constant truth that Nature provides the only sustainable medicine for it’s people.

Here in Canada, we are facing some pretty intense laws being imposed on an already over-regulated and suppressive natural health industry. This battle has been going on forever… since the burning of witches, and before. This fight for me, is one worth fighting as it threatens to take away the very thing that promises to facilitate not only my personal evolution but the evolution of the planet and everything that resides here.

We are facing a prohibition that makes the alcohol prohibition in the 30’s look like a joke. This truth, was what inspired the name of my business…..

“A speakeasy was an establishment which illegally sold alcoholic beverages during the period of United States history known as Prohibition (1920–1932, longer in some states). During this time, the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcoholic beverages was illegal throughout the United States. The term may have come from a patron’s manner of ordering an alcoholic drink without raising suspicion — bartenders would tell patrons to be quiet and “speak easy”, — or from patrons’ ability to talk about alcohol without fearing that a government official might be listening. Speakeasies became more popular and numerous as the Prohibition years progressed and more of them were operated by people connected to organized crime. Although police and Bureau of Prohibition agents would raid them and arrest the owners and patrons, the business of running speakeasies was so lucrative that they continued to flourish throughout America. In major cities, speakeasies were often quite elaborate, offering food, live music, floor shows, and striptease dancers. Corruption was rampant — speakeasy operators routinely bribed police to leave them alone or to give them advance notice of raids.” ~Wikipedia

A SpeakEasy Event is the current day re-creation of these epic and underground party’s during Prohibition…. with a new level of integrity and designed to meet the needs of our generation.

Below I’ve pasted a blog post I found in regards to the Natural Health Industry here in Canada and the political tyranny that is attempting to make the most innate and supportive aspect of life a federal crime….

~Shhhhhh…. SpeakEasy.

Tough Penalties to Be Imposed on Canadians Who Use Natural Healing

Enough is enough from the pharmaceutical companies bombarding Americans with their drugs. Every major television network has been bribed and has succumbed to hefty advertising payments and wooed by multiple sponsorships per hour. We’ve all seen the ads, a happy little insect gliding in the summer breeze to distract us when the side effects are mumbled at breakneck speed. “May cause paralysis, vomiting, nerve damage or death”. Death? Do they purport that we choose death over a leg cramp? Perhaps the most offensive campaign was the 2007 Astrazeneca wedge on Wheel of Fortune. The drug companies need to understand that we don’t want to buy or win their wares.

Canada is the first western country to feel the greed of pharmaceutical giants as they flex their muscle for more money. The conquest for control over preventive medicines has spilled into Canada’s political arena with the passing of a bill to ban the sale of vitamin C. The Canadian government has buckled to the pressure of the industry with the cunning passage of the C51 bill that snuck past voters. This bill will ban the use of holistic medicine and the purchase of life saving supplements such as viatmin C and Omega-3 acids. Foundational research and studies were pioneered by multiple-time Nobel Prize winner Dr. Linus Pauling for his treament of cancer with vitamin C, in some cases, putting the disease into full remission. Dr. Pauling used mega doses, and such extremes should not be taken without the assistance of a medical professional. But, consequently with his groungbreaking natural healing success, the public has become acutely aware of the benefits from C in smaller doses for repairing connective tissue and preventing disease. However, healthy people don’t bankroll the pharmaceutical industy; sick people do. This motion to bring criminal charges against Canadian citizens is not only a disgrace to North America, but endangers our own mortality here in the States.

Canada’s rebuke of alternative medicine dates back to the early 1970’s when Dr. Pauling, along with co-researcher Ewan Cameron, released their vitamin C documentaion to the Canadian Medical Journal. Even 30 years ago governmental entities preferred to keep it’s citizens dependant on pharmaceuticals, thus debunking Dr. Paulings reports. Pauling responded by saying that his findings had led to significantly prolonged life with vitamin C, and the replication of his procedures by independant laboratories were altered for the treatment to fail.

So, not surprisingly in 2009, the Canadian people will have to get a prescription from a doctor and convince him that the supplements are more beneficial than the drugs. Those caught with unauthorized vitamin C are subject to a $5,000,000 criminal fine and up to two years in prison. The heart of the issue is not only taking away one’s right for self-preservation, but relinquishing one’s physical well-being to government.

The ripple effect of Canadian law may have a devastating impact for Americans. With the slippery-slope of universal health care proposed here, our individual choices for alternative medicine may be compromised with government imposed sanctions against those who buck the system. If it can happen in Canada, it can happen here.
